6 Week Beginner Wheel-Throwing Pottery Course 2025

Description

*Spaces for pottery courses in 2024 are fully booked, all inquiries will be for 2025*

This 6-week pottery course is perfect for beginners with no previous experience on the potter’s wheel. They’re private 1:1 or 1:2 two hour sessions, so you’ll have my undivided attention!

You will learn the whole process behind making a pot on the wheel, from centering the clay, pulling walls, trimming, adding handles and spouts, and glazing.

Course structure:

Week 1: throwing – learning the basics; centering, opening the clay up, and pulling the walls.
Week 2: throwing – we’ll aim to make some mug and jug shapes!
Week 3: trimming & attachments – recentering your pots on the wheel, neatening up and shaping the base of your pots, attaching handles to your mugs and jugs
Week 4: throwing – here we can have a go at other shapes, such as spoon rests & candlestick holders
Week 5: trimming – finishing up any pots left over from week 1 & 2, plus new pots made in week 4
Week 6: glazing – decorating your pots in a multitude of colours!

There is no limit on the number of pieces you can keep, so whatever you make will be yours to take home forever at the end of the course (: Your pots will be food-safe, so you can use them in your day-to-day life!

For one person, the course is £315 and for two people £530.

Please email me at [email protected] to arrange dates and book for 2025, or if you have any questions.

Aprons will be provided, but please still wear something you don’t mind getting messy. Also, if possible, please have your nails short as it’s much easier to throw pots! 🙂

Please read through the cancellations, broken pots, and healthy & safety policy information in the ‘Lessons Info’ tab carefully before booking. By booking onto a taster session or course, you are agreeing to these terms and conditions.

Thank you!
